OTTAWA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Canada's employment increased by 54,000, or 0.3 percent, in November, driven by gains in part-time work, said Statistics Canada on Friday.

The employment rate rose 0.1 percentage points to 60.9 percent, while the unemployment rate fell 0.4 percentage points to 6.5 percent, said the national statistical agency.

According to the agency, employment increased in health care and social assistance, accommodation and food services, and natural resources. On the other hand, employment decreased in wholesale and retail trade.

Last month, 73.6 percent of employees felt secure in their jobs. However, this proportion was down 4.1 percentage points compared with November 2023, the last time comparable data were collected, said the agency.
