Detroit Red Wings center Sam Gagner signed a one-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Red Wings, however MLive reported that it was worth $850,000.

Gagner, 31, scored one goal for his lone point while playing in six games this season with the Red Wings after he was acquired from Edmonton on Feb. 24. The Wings got the veteran Gagner and second-round picks in both the 2020 and 2021 NHL Draft for forwards Andreas Athanasiou and Ryan Kuffner.

Prior to the trade, Gagner collected 12 points (six goals, six assists) with the Oilers in 36 games in 2019-20.

Gagner has 459 points (164 goals, 295 assists) in 844 career NHL games with Edmonton, Arizona, Philadelphia, Columbus, Vancouver and Detroit. Edmonton selected Gagner with the sixth overall pick of the 2007 NHL Draft.
