The LPGA canceled the CP Women's Open scheduled for Sept. 3-6 in Vancouver, British Columbia, due to "ongoing travel and border restrictions" in Canada.

The LPGA Tour said in a statement Tuesday that the event will return next season -- Aug. 26-29, 2021 -- at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia, which was set to host the 2020 tournament.

"The CP Women's Open is truly a world-class event and a favorite stop for all of us at the LPGA Tour," LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan said. "I understand this was a tough decision for everyone involved, but given the restrictions faced, there was simply nothing else that could be done that would have enabled us to run the event in 2020. It is disappointing to miss Canada's national championship and I know I speak for all LPGA Tour players and staff when I say we look forward to being back in Vancouver next year."

Whan did not address the possibility of filling the spot vacated on the already abbreviated 2020 LPGA schedule.

The tour is set to return July 31 at Toledo, Ohio, site of the LPGA Drive On Championship.

It will be the first of consecutive events scheduled to be played in Ohio. The Marathon Classic in Sylvania, Ohio, is set to be played Aug. 6-9.
