George Bush apologises to Iraqi PM
Canada News.Net Tuesday 20th May, 2008 (b)
US President George Bush has apologised to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for the desecration of the Islamic holy book Koran by a US soldier stationed in Iraq.
The Al-Iraqiya news channel reported that al-Maliki received an apology letter from the US president on the incident, after a soldier fired a bullet through the Koran.
Meanwhile, in Iraq, an explosion has wounded three companions of the Speaker of Iraq's Council of Representatives, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.
The blast occurred in an area west of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad as al-Mashhadani and his friends were travelling in a convoy.
In the southern city of Basra, an Iraqi police officer was killed in the late hours of Monday in the Ashar area.
Iraqi forces have also detained 15 suspected terrorists and confiscated a large weapons cache in the same city.

Bush’s gesture is appreciable. He deserves thanks for showing respect towards the Koran, the holy book of the Muslim. But it is not likely to resolve the ongoing conflict between the 'Bible and the Koran'. Adamancy on the part of socalled adherents of both belief systems has led the present world to unmitigated tension, confusion and chaos. Fundamentalist Islamists, in particular, have unleashed terror and intimidation across the globe thereby depriving the world community of their inalienable rights to live in peace and harmony. Their rivals are also no less responsible for fomenting internecine fissures and conflicts among different cultures and religions. Unfortunately, the growing militancy on the part of both sides has served to nullify the incipient positivities that had started percolating international relations following the demise of what is widely known as the 'evil empire' of the former Soviet Union. In fact, empirical evidence over the last several centuries demonstrates that both Islam and Christianity, however respectable for their approach to humanity, seem intrinsically militant and aggressively intrusive. The way they have been constantly mired in zero sum game appears to have effectively undermined the lofty philosophical ethos on which both Islam and Christianity are based. Should their sabre-rattling continue uninterruptedly, entire human beings will be found staring into an abysmal abyss. Therefore, it is high time that Hinduism, the most tolerant and accommodative of all religions, rose to the occasion and played a decisive role in bridging the gap between Islam and Christianity. When it comes to restoring stability and order, fundamental principles of Hinduism can prove of immense value because this religion believes in peace, harmony and co-existence. Truly speaking, Western values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law are the modern political version of eternal principles and ideals enshrined in Hinduism.

Funny to see which people make the most negative comments are made!
Has anyone spoken with any Iraqi people? Many Iraqis are very happy about the change. They are happy that america has created this new democracy! Most of the problem seems come from external forces wanting the power for themselves. Ask any Iraqi if they want Al Qaeda, Iran or Syria to be their slave masters?? To the negatives in the room, i think that you need to do a reality camp exercise and think about the Iraqi people, rather than their own pet Hyena stories which are so so misguided and unbalanced in your thinking

What A Joke!
Goly gee were so sorry we shot a hole in that book but hey we have been shooting holes in people for four years!
Sorry that we can’t manage to stop the bombings and sunni/shiite death squads but shooting the Koran is far more a problem then a war that will never end!
Maybe this apology will go along way towards making the Iraqis and the Muslims of the wolrd know the US cares about!
Oh by the way Iran is next!
Oh by the way Syria is as well!
Bush you’re a jackass!
Something really bothers me here in Gitmo the dirty infidels use gloves to handle the Qur’an yet that general put his filthy kafir lips upon the book before he handed it back this is as bad as shooting a hole through it.
Please someone restore some sanity and focus.

No Apology for all the damages and injuries either!

Killing other people and go again their believe.
What our soldiers did over there and what our president did to them. We the Amerecans take all the sins and we are all sinners. Donot think it is funny. It is sin. We/ American needs to learn that if we do something bad to them. Then we will pay for it. Remember what we did. We did to the spiritual world and not human world. Once strike then you gone. Jesus said if you punished his/her then they will be free if you don’t punish him/her then you will take that punishment.

It is imperative that you must air a little
positive kudos or remark. But if constant negative is aired and no positive praising, denotes bitter taste to reader of your what your called posting. I am very sure your a kind hearted man and please balance your remarks. I am not telling but I am asking. I must admit I am very negative as well but I tried to find a way to make room for the positive one. Thanks you for listening if you may.

Thank you for the explanations. I will keep your comments and advise in mind.
Being a very busy person with numerous plates full, and an upbringing of no tollerances for liars cheaters theifs and criminals, I do tend to be very grating to those types unwilling to do the hard work! Those that use the messianic processes as excuses for their 'wants'.
Being a firm believer in the 'common good' I hold such as my first priority. Those that exhibit such always get my respect. Those that clearly prefer the lies and clandestine approaches to gathering wealth and power receive a steady diet of truth and critical analysis that too often feel as heat of contempt on a personal level. Our lil president is one such person. And having the resources at his hands, uses them for destruction, and at the loss of the Common Good!
From the top to the bottom I will always separate the bad apples! So along with the tyrant lil president to the bottom feeders like the lil wet pants coward, each receives his due!
