NATO fuel tankers attacked in Pakistan

Canada News.Net
Monday 24th March, 2008

Fuel tankers supplying petrol to US and NATO troops in Afghanistan have been destroyed by rebels.

36 fuel tankers were travelling through northwestern Pakistan, on their way to the border areas, when the attack by Islamic militants injured around 100 people, 12 of them seriously.

Two explosive devices went off beneath the tankers, which were parked in the troubled Khyber tribal region on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Islamic militants regularly carry out attacks against tankers supplying fuel to US bases in eastern and southern Afghanistan.
